RescuePet helps rehome 101 dogs and cats! print email

After 9 months of operation, RescuePet today reached a landmark in it's mission to help animal shelters find good new homes for animals in their care. Of 201 dogs and cats in the RescuePet database, 101 have now been rehomed!

There are now 30 registered shelter, located throughout the UK, regularly using RescuePet to find new homes for thir animals. RescuePet has become an important tool for shelters, as these comments explain:

"Thank you for letting us join your great site. I am sure that Rescuepet will be of great help to us, we always have many dogs in need of homes and it is more difficult to rehome them at this time of year so the extra exposure will be most welcome." - Pauline, Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

"I maintain the 9 lives Cat rescue web site and the database entries for Helen. She doesn't have email, but has asked me to thank you as she's rehomed all her cats through rescue pet!" - 9 lives Cat rescue

"We are now homing several dogs from our rescue through the Rescuepet site. Naturally, we are delighted. Thanks for setting it up :)" - GSD Rehoming North East

"2 days ago a friend of mine from the Midlands told me of a 3 legged GSD she had rescued from the local dog shelter (Hopsie is his name). He was in danger of being put to sleep if no home could have been found, so she adopted him from them and set about finding a home herself. She emailed me to ask for advice and I put his details on our rescue web site under the heading of "Other dogs we know of". Last thing I really expected was a response. I imagined it would take *ages* if at all, to find a home for a disabled dog. Anyway, within 12 hours, she had 2 phone calls from people who had seen the dog . They had got to our site via the Rescue Pet database search. Today she has visited one of the people and Hopsie is tonight, in his new home complete with new doggie friend and humans." - Alyson, GSD Rehoming North East

Feedback from public users of the RescuePet site has been universally positive and encouraging. Here is one such example...

"I would just like to say that for months I have been going through lots of different dog rescue centres trying to find a dog that would appeal to my partner and circumstances and then all of a sudden tonight I came across your site, put in my postcode and found all the dogs that were within reach. It is a great site and has straight away become my number one 'most looked up site'. A brilliant idea! I have recently lost my cat and my dad and this has cheered me up no end! Thanks very much. Keep up the good work" - Lucy Warren

RescuePet would like to congratulate the animal shelters who have worked so hard to achieve these rehomings and wish them even more success in 2003.
